We all aspire to achieve and maintain a satisfying level of physical fitness. The definition of physical fitness goes beyond the ability to run fast or pick up heavy weights. Physical fitness is a state of health and well-being and it is considered as a measure of the body's ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities. It also shows the ability to to be healthy, to resist diseases and to meet emergency situations.
Fitness is generally achieved through proper nutrition, moderate to vigorous physical exercise and sufficient rest, and is closely related to a person’s habitual activities.
Below are Seven healthy habits that will help you achieve and maintain a good level of physical fitness.
Have a Nutritious Breakfast
Having a healthy breakfast is very important for maintaining a fit body. When you eat breakfast in the morning, it jump-starts your metabolism and stop you from overeating later. Never skip your breakfast. Studies show that adults and kids, who eat a healthy breakfast, perform better and excel in their studies and works. So eat a nutritious breakfast that contains all the essential nutrients needed for the healthy functioning of your body. Proper nutrition improves a person's physical fitness as well as mental alertness. So choose to have a nutritious breakfast that consists of many healthy foods.
Plan Your Meals
Take time to plan your meals ahead of time according to your fitness needs. Start to look at your body and if you feel, you are overweight, try to fix that to the best ideal weight by cutting back on the things that make you obese such as fats, carbohydrates and sugar. Since you need to maintain enough strength and fitness level, eat healthy foods that are proven to be good for loosing weight.
Drink plenty of water.
Make it a habit of drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily. Water is one of the most essential elements needed for our proper body functioning. It is necessary for each and every function taking place in the entire body. Some people don’t like the taste of plain water. If you are one of them add slices of lemon, orange, watermelon or cucumber to your drinking water. Sugary drinks are harmful to your health and may lead to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Sleep Well
Getting sound sleep is a sign of good health. It is during this time that your body overcome the wear and tear and does the repair of organs. Aim to get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every day. It will help to improve your mood, sharpen your memory and keep you fit by decreasing the risk of many diseases including heart disease and stroke.
Exercise Regularly
Having just 30 minutes of exercise a day is just enough to help you feel fit. It also help to refresh you and elevate your mood.. According to clinical studies ,inactivity or lack of exercise lead to many long-term health problems including so called lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Make it a habit of exercising regularly for about half an hour. This will give you long-term benefits and help you stay fit.
Train Your Muscles
Strength training helps you to burn calories even when you are not doing any activities. It helps you to slim down, build up your bones and strengthen your heart. Choose strength training exercises like push ups, weight lifting and lunges.
Involve in Brain Activities
Your brain functions plays an important role in determining overall fitness. So involve in activities that help to improve brain health and cognitive fitness such as creative writing, reading books, learning new languages and solving puzzles. It will also help to improve memory and slow down the signs of aging.
