Yogic Exercises To Improve Your Eyesight and Concentration

Eyes are very important part of our body. In yoga, there are certain simple exercises to keep them healthy and improve your eyesight.These exercises helps to tone up the muscles and nerves connected to our eyes.Perform these exercises, sitting cross-legged or in any comfortable position, keeping your head, neck and and spine straight.

Vertical Movement

  • First look upward towards the middle of your forehead and then the tip of your nose.without moving your head.
  • Only pupils of your eyes should have upward and downward movements.
  • Do it quickly for 24 times.
  • Close your eyes gently
  • Provide rest by keeping the eyes closed for five minutes.

Horizontal Movement

  • Spread your hands sideways.
  • Close your fists and raise thumbs.
  • First look towards your right thumb, then then left thumb without moving your neck.
  • Repeat the exercise 24 times
  • Take rest by keeping it closed for 5 seconds.

Diagonal Movement

  • First look above the corner of the right eye and then towards the ground near left knee.
  • Repeat this twelve times.
  • In the same manner, look above the corner of your left eye and then towards the ground near the right knee.
  • Repeat this twelve times.
  • Close your eyes gently.
  • Provide rest for five seconds.

Rectangular Movement

  • Create an imaginary rectangle in front of your eyes.
  • Make it as wide as you can.
  • Move your eyes along the four corners of the rectangle from left to right 12 times.
  • Repeat this process by moving your eyes from right to left 12 times.
  • Close your eyes gently and give rest to your eyes for 5 seconds.

Circular Movement

Create an imaginary circle from the earth to sky, as wide as you can.

  • First move your eyeballs clockwise 12 times
  • Then move your eyeballs anticlockwise twelve times.
  • Close your eyes gently.
  • Give rest for five seconds.

Forward Backward Movement

  • Stretch your right hand in front of you
  • Raise your thumb and close the fist with other fingers.
  • First fix your eyes away from your thumb and then slowly bring it closer exactly on the thumb.
  • Do it for at least 10 times.
  • Then gradually start bringing the thumb closer to the eyes, repeating the process of looking forward and upon the thumb.
  • Go on doing it until the thumb comes very close to the eyes.
  • Close the eyes gently.
  • Give rest for five seconds.
  • This exercise is very beneficial for improving the eyesight.

After performing these exercises close your eyes gently. Afterwards, rub your palms together applying some pressure and place them on your eyes to warm them. Do it three times. Finally, If possible, spent some time in nature looking at greeneries.
